Position Summary
The Department of Chemistry, Physics, and Atmospheric Sciences at Jackson State University is accepting applications for its full-time temporary Postdoctoral Research Fellow position. The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will be an essential member of a grant-funded research team investigating the impact of high-stakes testing on the sense of belonging, self-efficacy, teaching, and the learning success of STEM students and faculty at Jackson State University.
The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will serve as the key liaison for all project participants and will play an essential role in recruitment, data collection, and monitoring. He/She will actively participate in all research team evaluations of findings, implementation of project improvement, and assist in the reporting of project findings to University, local, and national audiences.
Qualifications
Minimum Required Education
An earned doctorate in Psychology, Sociology, Epidemiology, or similar clinical, social science, or interdisciplinary program that includes coursework, training, and complete research project experience in qualitative and quantitative data collection techniques and analysis.
Minimum Required Experience
Successful research project/program design, development, implementation, and assessment.
Previous experience with implementing and assessing multi-component behavioral change is desirable, but not required.

Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations and a wide-reaching range of stakeholders on sensitive, high-impact topics.
Close coordination of efforts, approaches, and information within a research team environment.
Demonstrated interest in the impact and potential of novel assessment approaches to achieve perceptual and behavioral changes that can support measurable teaching and learning success.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment to meet program research goals.
Ability to recruit participants in CPAS gatekeepers STEM courses to program activities.
Knowledge of and skills in using current qualitative and quantitative assessment approaches, especially those that pertain to behavioral change.
Interest in and ability to learn and assist in the development, implementation, and testing of novel approaches for ‘real time' understanding of student and faculty perceptions on teaching, learning, and testing.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Assist research team in recruitment, collection, monitoring, and IRB compliance of all project data.
Participate in meetings to share findings with research team members in a timely manner, and assist in evaluating and interpreting the data to improve overall program efforts and outcomes.
Assist in the reporting of all findings to the College, University, funding agency, and national professional organizations aimed at increasing equity in testing, STEM, and other disciplines.
