Job Description
The H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute has an opening for a postdoctoral scholar in translational lung cancer research. The Haura lab pursues an interdisciplinary approach spanning proteomics, chemical biology, translational medicine, molecular biology, biochemistry, and bioinformatics to characterize systems level views of cancer signaling networks. Particular emphasis is given to integrating functional proteomics technologies, e.g. chemical and phosphoproteomics, to dissect the underlying mechanism of drug action and cancer biology. We are looking for a scientist with a cross-disciplinary skill set who is interested in working on projects related to protein complex annotation using proximity ligation assay (PLA) technology (Smith, Science Signaling, 2015; Smith, Clinical Cancer Research, 2017). The project will consist of clinical validation studies of existing EGFR and MET proximity assays using human lung cancer tissues. The candidate will define the incidence of EGFR PLA in lung cancer specimens from our institution and investigate the association of EGFR PLA with response to EGFR-directed therapies using multiple external cohorts, consisting of trial-associated lung cancer specimens.
The successful candidate must hold a PhD in cancer biology (or related discipline) and have extensive experience with immunohistochemistry, analytical microscopy, human subjects research and modern molecular biology techniques. A firm understanding of predictive biomarker strategies, intracellular signaling and basic statistical concepts will be highly beneficial. Candidates with experience in cancer pathology and/or tissue based imaging will be given priority. The position requires the ability to operate in an independent manner with limited supervision and to lead collaborative efforts across multiple disciplines within Moffitt and external industry collaborators. Strong written and verbal communication skills will be required. Opportunities for travel to relevant conferences, grant writing and mentoring are available.
