美国贝勒医学院神经科学博士后招聘
Job Description
Summary
The laboratory of Dr. Matthew McGinley in the Department of Neuroscience at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking applicants for a postdoctoral research position. The McGinley lab studies the neural circuit basis of learning and performance of sensory-guided behavioral tasks. The goal of the postdoctoral fellow for this position is to use in vivo electrophysiology and multi-photon imaging to understand the interactions of auditory cortex with other brain areas - such as neuromodulatory centers, frontal cortex, and hippocampus - during sensory-guided behavior. For example, one project will assess how neuromodulatory responses, as measured through imaging of ACh/NE axons in auditory cortex, shape the neural coding of sounds, as measured with electrophysiological approaches. There are opportunities to work on one or more of several behaviors, including a value-based attention task, a foraging task, and/or an auditory virtual navigation task. In addition there will be space to develop own ideas and gain grant writing experience in a stimulating and supportive environment.
Job Purpose
The ideal applicant should have extensive experience with in vivo electrophysiology and/or functional imaging in awake behaving rodents. Expertise with patch-clamp physiology, especially in vivo, is also desirable. The postdoc will work closely within an exciting collaborative team that combines numerous cutting edge techniques, including: high-throughput head-fixed behavior, in vivo physiology (multiphoton imaging, whole-cell recording, high channel-count array recording, and optogenetics), computational approaches, biosensor device development, and diverse molecular genetic tools. We seek to understand the neural circuit basis of sensory-guided behavior.
