Position Title Postdoctoral Fellow, Strengthening Transitions in Pediatric Care lab

Within the Strengthening Transitions in Pediatric Care (STIPC) lab, we develop and evaluate interventions to improve transitions in care for patients and families. Using a collaborative, patient-centred approach to understanding how children and families currently navigate transitions in care, our research aims to improve outcomes and lead to sustainable changes in the health care system.
We are seeking a 2-year Postdoctoral Fellow to provide research support and leadership for a CIHR funded study on co-designing pediatric discharge communication tools in the emergency department with youth, parents and clinicians.
The position provides an excellent opportunity for a Postdoctoral Fellow to enhance mixed methods research expertise and skills, and acquire experience in implementation science and patient-oriented research. Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, Dr. Janet Curran, the Postdoctoral Fellow will be responsible to lead a CIHR funded study on pediatric discharge instruction in emergency departments, with an explicit focus on knowledge translation. The successful applicant will have completed their PhD studies by the anticipated start date of the position, and will have demonstrable mixed-methods research expertise. The Postdoctoral Fellow will be expected to develop and lead workshops on knowledge translation methods for the academic and clinical research community at Dalhousie University, as well as supervise research assistants and undergraduate students to ensure project goals are met in a timely and efficient manner. The Postdoctoral Fellow will be given an opportunity to work with national and international experts in the field of knowledge translation, further develop grant writing skills and their teaching dossier, mentor undergraduate and graduate students, and lead development of manuscripts for submission to peer review journals.
Qualifications/Requirements of Position
Qualifications: PhD in Nursing, Psychology or Health based studies or cognate area from a recognized University
Experience: Must have completed a PhD, preferably within the last two years, in a suitable discipline with extensive research experience. Preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated experience in scientific communication, through authorship on peer-reviewed publications in relevant areas and have grant writing experience.
Requirements of Position: Self-directed individual with highly developed interpersonal skills and experience dealing with large organizations. Ability to work and communicate well under pressure in a demanding environment. The candidate must be a team player who can deal with different investigators and leadership styles. Fluency in English is essential. Applicants should be familiar with evidence synthesis methods and have the basic competence necessary for planning and conducting mixed-methods health research.
Salary Range/Pay Rate $42,000 - $45,000 Additional Information
