About This Position
The Department of Surgery at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine, has an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Associate. The position supports work in Dr. Liu’s Biology lab. The Postdoctoral Associate will primarily study the molecular mechanisms for atherosclerosis with emphasis on involvement of Notch signaling in this disease. The Postdoctoral Associate must have strong laboratory experience in molecular and cell biology techniques including gene mutagenesis, RNAi, quantitative RT-PCR, flow cytometry and immunohistochemistry. Experiments involve both in vitro and in vivo (small animal) works.
The duties and responsibilities for this position may include, but are not limited to:
Performing a wide variety of experiments in a research laboratory with a focus on vascular biology using various molecular and cell biology, immunology and biochemistry techniques.
Performing in vivo experiments with mouse models.
Participating in laboratory management including data management of results from research assays, supply stock and ordering, and equipment maintenance.
Presentation of data in various venues will be expected.
Assist in publications.
Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. in biological science with research experience in signal transduction and tumor biology is preferred. Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data. Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems. Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
