丹麦阿尔胡斯大学化学系及跨学科纳米技术中心2020年招聘博士后

A two-year postdoctoral position “Hierarchical Protein Dynamics” is available from 1 August 2020 (or soon thereafter) in the group of Prof. Dr. Frans A.A. Mulder at the Department of Chemistry and the Interdisciplinary Nanoscience Center (iNANO) at Aarhus University, Denmark. The project aims for an integrative understanding of protein dynamics in terms of the hierarchical contributions of motions taking place on different length and time scales, studying proteins in solution and solid states. The project includes a research stay to University of California San Francisco to collect and integrate X-ray diffraction data.

Project Goal and Tasks

Our group develops NMR spectroscopy methods and tools for the study of protein dynamics. We are looking for a knowledgeable, ambitious and creative person to join our team. It is expected that the successful candidate will independently manage the development, implementation of NMR experiments and data analysis, as well as work together with other groups in local and international collaborations. Key elements of the project are (1) generation of isotopically labelled protein solutions, powders and crystals, (2) solution and solid-state NMR pulse sequence method development, (3) theoretical framework development for data analysis, (4) integration with complementary data. Minor involvement in teaching activities may be solicited.

Scientific Surroundings

The Ultra High Field NMR Center at Aarhus University offers a stimulating research environment, covering complementary research activities in the area of liquid state NMR, oriented and MAS solid state NMR, pulse sequence development, low-field NMR, high-pressure NMR and imaging. The lab is equipped with state-of-the-art spectrometers operating at 950 MHz (including 0.7mm fast-MAS), 700 MHz, 500 MHz, and 400 MHz. The BioNMR research is embedded within the Department of Chemistry (https://chem.au.dk/en/) and the Interdisciplinary Nanoscience Center (iNANO; http://inano.au.dk). These laboratories provide abundant and state-of-the-art techniques in structural and molecular biology.

Aarhus University further provides a strong international research and training environment with excellent professional and private conditions. Foreign employees can get help and information from the AU International Center (http://www.au.dk/en/internationalcentre/) and Work in Denmark (https://workindenmark.dk/). Tax reduction schemes for researchers are available.

Deadline

Application must be made online and received by 1 July 2020.

Application procedure

Shortlisting is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the appointment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. All applicants will be notified whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee, and each applicant is given the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that concerns him/her self. Once the recruitment process is completed a final letter of rejection is sent to the deselected applicants, including the main considerations emphasized during the selection process.

Formalities and salary range

Natural Sciences refers to the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.

The application must be in English and include a curriculum vitae, degree certificate, a complete list of publications, a statement of future research plans and information about research activities, teaching portfolio and verified information on previous teaching experience (if any). Guidelines for applicants can be found here.

Appointment shall be in accordance with the collective labour agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Further information on qualification requirements and job content may be found in the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff at Danish Universities.

Salary depends on seniority as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Confederation of Professional Associations.

All interested candidates are encouraged to apply, regardless of their personal background. Research activities will be evaluated in relation to actual research time. Thus, we encourage applicants to specify periods of leave without research activities, in order to be able to subtract these periods from the span of the scientific career during the evaluation of scientific productivity.
