瑞典哥德堡大学2020年招聘博士后(神经科学)

Project rationale for the Post-Doc position : Approximately one out of five patients undergoing surgery will develop a major postoperative complication, which may significantly affect functional recovery and long-term survival. Poor fluid management, hemodynamic instability, and cardiac dysfunction are recognized as the leading causes of perioperative complications and poor outcomes. As such, there is an increasing clinical awareness that adequate and focused hemodynamic monitoring and early appropriate therapy can improve outcome and reduce costs in these surgical patients. However, current solutions have several drawbacks in terms of use in clinical practice and reliability, limiting their implementation into routine clinical practice. Therefore, there is a strong clinical need for a new non- invasive hemodynamic monitoring approach, which is sensitive to beat-to-beat cardiac output and flow dynamics without requiring specific expertise or effort from the caretakers nor adding burden to the patient.

Project partners:

Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e)

Philips Research

Catharina Hospital Eindhoven

At Philips Research in Eindhoven, prototypes and algorithms are currently being developed which will function as a starting point for the Post-Doc. The Post-Doc will be embedded in the Eindhoven MedTech Innovation Center (e/MTIC), which gives structure to the synergic collaboration that is in place between the TU/e, Philips, and all the clinical partners in the Eindhoven region. As such, the Post-Doc’s physical location will be flexible (Philips, TU/e or Catharina Hospital Eindhoven), depending on the specific needs that will develop in the course of the project.

As Post-Doc you will work with a new technology based on Ultrasound aimed for hemodynamic monitoring. Main expectations for the three years Post-doc are:

Close collaboration and coordination of the work of three PhDs, one focused on physiological modelling of the cardiovascular system, one focused on Ultrasound measurements algorithms and one on clinical validation (patient studies). You will work closely with the PhDs to guide the sensor software and algorithm development, incorporate physiological models and clinical decision support algorithms into the clinical monitoring setup, and support with the experimental and clinical validation of the technology, models, and algorithms. Tests will be done first on phantoms and then in volunteers/clinical studies.

Working on the Ultrasound system integration and algorithms with patient monitors for clinical testing and validation.

Definition of functional, usability and technical requirements and restrictions for further development of the monitoring system based on the findings in lab tests and clinical studies e.g. signal processing and data management, sensor heating, usability workflow, ensuring compliance with medical standards.Job requirements

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience:

- Master’s degree and PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering or equivalent fields. - A good knowledge of signal processing, statistical methods, mathematical modelling. - A good knowledge of human physiology - Programming skills (MATLAB and/or Python) - Fluent in oral and written English - Take responsibilities, proactive, results driven, good communication skills. Able to guide other PhDs in their work. - Preferred: experience in collaborations with clinicians

Conditions of employment

In return, we offer you:

The opportunity to work for three years with an experienced team at Philips Research, TU/e and Catharina hospital which are working together towards innovative solutions to improve the clinical workflow as well as clinical outcomes of critically ill patients.

The gross salary for a post-doc researcher lies between
