丹麦阿尔胡斯大学工程系2020年招收博士后
Aarhus University
The Department of Biomedicine at the Faculty of Health at Aarhus University invites applications for a 2½-year, full-time position as Postdoc in the research group of Rasmus O. Bak. The ideal starting date is Sept/Oct 2020, but is negotiable.
About the department
We offer a vibrant international research environment where English is the preferred language in the laboratory, at meetings, and at seminars. The Department employs some 450 people and covers a range of research areas within Biomedicine. We contribute to the Bachelor’s degree programs in medicine, molecular medicine, odontology and the Master’s degree programs in biomedical engineering and medical chemistry. Our infrastructure is well developed with modern laboratories, core and animal facilities. You can read more about the department here and about the faculty here.
About the research group
The research group is led by Associate Professor, AIAS COFUND Fellow, and Lundbeck Foundation Fellow, Rasmus O. Bak. The research group specializes in genetic engineering using various CRISPR/Cas platforms, and we focus on applying these for gene therapy and the development of novel cell therapies. The lab is supported by several major grants, and will from 2020 Q3 host 6 postdocs, 2 PhD students, 1 lab manager, and a number of students. The research group is based in the brand new Skou Building in the heart of the Aarhus University campus. For more information on the research group, please visit our homepage.
About the research project
The project is on genetic engineering of a rare subset of immune cells, plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs). Recent combined efforts between the Bak and Jakobsen Labs at the Dept. of Biomedicine, Aarhus University, showed the generation of pDCs from hematopoietic stem cells, published in Nature Communications. In the current project, the focus is on applying CRISPR/Cas genetic engineering to control and amplify the properties of the cells for cell therapy. The project will be in close collaboration with a team of researchers from the Bak and Jakobsen Labs working on pDC biology.
Job responsibilities
The Postdoc position is primarily research-based, but may also involve some teaching assignments. The main research tasks include:
· Primary blood cell isolation, culturing, and genetic manipulation using CRISPR/Cas.
· Genetic, phenotypic, and functional characterization of dendritic cell properties in vitro and in vivo.
· Analysis, interpretation, and presentation of research data including publication in peer-reviewed journals.
You will be under daily supervision and guidance by group leader Rasmus O. Bak, and you will formally report to the Head of Department Thomas G. Jensen.
Competences
Applicants must have academic qualifications at PhD level in medicine, molecular medicine/biology, biotechnology, or similar, preferably with experience in genetic engineering, immunology, immuno-oncology, or hematology. Advantageous skills include flow cytometry, immunoassays, genetic engineering and genetic analyses, blood cell purification and culture, and mouse handling. The ideal applicant is highly motivated, scientifically curious, a self-starter, and has a proven track-record of publishing high-quality research. Excellent communication and inter-personal skills are a prerequisite. We expect you to be fluent in oral and written English.
