Job Description
A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Klára Briknarová at the University of Montana, Missoula. The Postdoctoral associate will study the structure of fibronectin and the mechanism of fibronectin fibril formation. This involves preparing proteins and characterizing their interactions and structure using biochemical and biophysical methods. As such, the person in this position needs to be capable of performing highly complex tasks, working independently and collaboratively in designing and implementing strategies to achieve the research goals, analyzing data and publishing the results.

Position Details
Position is full-time, 1.0 FTE, 12-month Letter of Appointment, and includes a comprehensive and competitive benefits package(i.e., MUS health insurance benefits, mandatory retirement plan, partial tuition waiver, and wellness program).
Salary for this position is $45,000 - $53,000, commensurable with experience.
Required Education and Skills
PhD. in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, or a related field.
Working knowledge of standard methods in molecular biology, protein expression and protein purification.
Experience with and interest in protein characterization and structural biology.
Proven record and ability to carry out innovative and insightful research.
Strong quantitative skills.
Ability to design and implement strategies to achieve research goals.
Ability to analyze complex data and report results.
Ability to learn new skills and apply them to the research project as needed.
Ability and willingness to communicate with the PI and others in the laboratory, to collaborate on a research project, to supervise and mentor student researchers and technicians, and to maintain a safe and clean laboratory environment.
A positive and constructive attitude, ability to interact patiently and respectfully with coworkers, learn from constructive criticism, and provide guidance to others as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with macromolecular X-ray crystallography.
Experience with cryo-electron microscopy, single molecule fluorescence, and/or cross-linking mass spectrometry.
Experience with mammalian cell culture.
