Department of Veterinary and Animal Science, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen, wishes to appoint a talented post doc for a 2-year position for a joint in vivo/in vitro pharmacology project in obesity research from 15 November 2020 or as soon as possible hereafter.

The Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences and Novo Nordisk A/S did in 2010 jointly establish a research centre – The LIFEPHARM Centre – with a total budget of DKK 140 mill covering activities until the end of 2023. The purpose of the research centre is to strengthen the research in experimental pharmacology and toxicology and to increase the output of postdocs and PhDs with a strong in vivo pharmacological profile. It is expected that the future post doc will actively participate in and support the Centre’s activities. For further information on the Centre see www. lifepharm.dk

Project description

As a collaboration between part of Obesity Biology Department at Novo Nordisk and LifePharm, this project is focused on identifying new pathogenetic mechanisms in weight maintenance problems and novel strategies in obesity management. The project is directed towards the role of hypothalamo-pituitary- adrenal axis in regulation of energy expenditure and potential therapeutic targets within this system. A large part of the project is centred on animal experiments, in vivo metabolic assessment and development of an in vitro platform to validate and perform in vitro assays and mode-of-action studies.
