Position Summary

The postdoctoral researcher will be part of the Institute for Modeling Collaboration and Innovation (IMCI) Modeling Core. They will participate on research funded by COBRE grant number P20-GM104420. This includes participation on Research Project Grants, Modeling Access Grants, or Pilot Grants funded under this mechanism.

Responsibilities

Job Duty Function Research:

Job Duties/Responsibilities

-Engage in two to three Research Project Grants, Modeling Access Grants, or Pilot Grants funded under P20-GM104420. -Participate in the Working Group associated with each project. -Independently collect, analyze, and interpret data relevant to each project; work collaboratively to integrate the results of the research. -Keep up-to-date research notebooks and computer files of standard protocols.

Job Duty Function Present Research Results by:

Job Duties/Responsibilities

- Compiling and reporting findings, prepare figures and tables that summarize data and results. -Writing manuscripts for publication peer-reviewed journals. - Participate regularly in IMCI activities including seminars, workshops, and Brown Bag Lunches.

Job Duty Function Collaborative Activities:

Job Duties/Responsibilities

- Present results in the form of talks or posters at regional, national, and international conferences. -Assist in supervising and training undergraduate and graduate students engaged in projects on which postdoc participates. - Initiate new interdisciplinary collaborations at the university.

Required Qualifications

• Education: Ph.D. by the time of appointment in computer science or a related discipline • Experience with machine learning demonstrated by publications in the field • Experience in computer programming skills • Evidence of strong written and oral communication skills • Applicants who are selected as final possible candidates must be able to pass a criminal background check.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working on biomedical problems • Strong statistical skills • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
