丹麦哥本哈根大学2020年招聘博士后(运动的神经回路研究)
Postdoctoral fellowship in neuronal circuits of movement
Job Description
Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences
University of Copenhagen
A 3-year postdoctoral fellowship is available in the laboratory of Professor Ole Kiehn at the Department of Neuroscience, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen, Denmark. The aim of the project is to investigate and understand the contribution of distinct supraspinal neuronal circuits to movement in mammals. For this, we are seeking an experienced, independent, and highly motivated candidate interested in the functional organization of the neuronal circuits that orchestrates movements and locomotion. The starting date of the postdoctoral position is January 1, 2021.
Scientific environment This postdoctoral position offers the opportunity to work in a scientifically excellent team, engaged in the research of physiological and pathophysiological aspects of motor control at supraspinal and spinal levels. The laboratory is led by Professor Ole Kiehn and aims at understanding the mechanisms by which neurons and neuronal circuits operate to generate and control movements. The research environment in the laboratory is highly international and interdisciplinary, with scientist from across the world and with diverse academic backgrounds. Lab information can be found on: https: // in.ku.dk/research/ole-kiehn/ .
The laboratory is part of the Department of Neuroscience at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences. The department consists of more than 20 research groups working within different areas of neuroscience. More information at https: // in.ku.dk .
The position The posted postdoctoral position focuses on experimentally investigating the role of supraspinal neuronal circuits in motor control and movements. The experimental approach relies heavily on in vivo techniques, such as mouse genetics, stereotaxic surgeries, electrophysiology, imaging, optogenetic and chemogenetic manipulations, and viral tracing strategies. Only candidates with extensive research experience in systems neuroscience, in vivo electrophysiology, in vivo imaging, viral tools and large-scale data analysis will be taken into consideration. Extraordinarily motivated and ambitious candidates, with a strong publication record are encouraged to apply.
Assessment criteria In the assessment of qualifications, we will emphasize the perceived research potential of the applicant and the relevance of previous research experience. We are looking for a candidate with the following professional and personal qualifications:
Mandatory qualifications:
Publication record documenting high-quality contributions to systems neuroscience research
A background in systems neuroscience research in rodents
A strong interest in motor neuroscience and the research questions addressed by the group
Extensive experience with in vivo electrophysiology (awake and anaesthetized animals)
Extensive experience with in vivo calcium imaging (awake and anaesthetized animals)
Extensive experience with animal recovery surgeries for in vivo experiments
Experience with stereotaxic surgeries
Experience with large-scale data analysis
Accredited course in Laboratory Animal Science according to Danish Animal Experimentation Act (FELASA) level C, enabling the candidate to execute independent laboratory work
Experience with writing scientific publications and presenting research for an audience
Well-developed collaborative skills and a strong motivation to contribute to a working environment that is both productive and pleasant for all members of the group
Desired qualifications
Experience with tissue preparation for immunohistochemistry and imaging
Experience with confocal microscopy of fixed tissues
Experience with collaborative projects with researchers in scientific realms outside of neuroscience
Experience in experimental design and planning of experiments
Proficiently in spoken and written English
Formal requirements Applicants should hold a PhD degree in neuroscience, or the equivalent hereof, and have published peer-reviewed research on systems neuroscience at a high international level. If the PhD degree has not been obtained by the application deadline, the recommendation letter from the PhD supervisor must state that the applicant is expected to submit the PhD dissertation before January 1, 2021.
Terms of employment and salary The position is covered by the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff. Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State. Depending on seniority, the monthly salary begins at DKK 34,654 / approx. EUR 4,654 (April 2020-level) plus an employer paid pension contribution of 17.1%.
Place of employment The place of employment is at the Department of Neuroscience, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen, Denmark. Our research facilities include modern laboratories in the Mærsk Tower and in the Panum Institute.
