Two postdoctoral positions are available in the laboratory of Dr. David Ho at the Aaron Diamond AIDS Research Center of Columbia University Irving Medical Center, a Research Center of National and International Excellence. The research is performed in an interdisciplinary setting with strong institutional and global collaborations. Our research ranges from basic biology of viruses/pathogens to clinical trials as well as structural biology and bioinformatics.

Dr. Ho’s lab research efforts are focused on developing strategies for HIV-1 prevention treatment and eradication. Research directions include the development of multi-specific antibody for eliminating HIV reservoir cells, antibody drug conjugation for selective targeting and activation of the HIV latent reservoir, and quantifying effector functions of anti-HIV antibodies in vivo in animal models as well as clinical evaluation of a potent bispecific antibody for HIV-1 prevention.

With the recent COVID-19 pandemic the Ho laboratory has devoted efforts to SARS-CoV-2 research and successfully identified one of the broadest and most potent panel of antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 to date. The Ho laboratory is currently further characterizing and developing several of these antibodies for the treatment and prevention of COVID-19. In addition to ongoing HIV research efforts, the Ho lab is continuing to investigate the pathogenesis and molecular mechanisms underlying SARS-CoV-2 infection in order to bring new solutions to the testing, treatment, and prevention of COVID-19.

As a Postdoctoral Research Fellow/Scientist, you will work in an internationally established and strong research environment towards the developing strategies and understanding of these viral infections. Your main role will be to conduct independent lab research, design and execute in vitro and/or in vivo experiments and analyze and interpret results as well as effectively communicate research results in publications and oral presentations. Some of the work will be performed in a BSL2 and/or BSL3 environment. Advanced knowledge in molecular and cellular biology techniques, experience working in a biosafety level 2 and above, or experience with animal models is preferred.

As a Postdoctoral Research Scientist, this appointment will be covered by a collective bargaining agreement between the University and Columbia Postdoctoral Workers-UAW Local 4100
