丹麦哥本哈根大学2021年招聘博士后职位(生物信息学)
Research assistant or Postdoc in Bioinformatics at Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine (ICMM) and Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Protein Research (CPR)
Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine (ICMM) / Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Protein Research (CPR), University of Copenhagen (UCPH)
We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic scientist, who can commence on July 1, 2021, or as soon as possible. The position is for two years and the successful candidate will be hired as Research assisitant – or if qualified - as Postdoc.
The position is part of a collaboration between ICMM and CPR to study the observed sex differences of severely affected patients with COVID-19, by integration of targeted genetic data with personal and nation-wide electronic health records.
The project
Genetic variants in/around candidate host genes that are potentially linked to the present pandemic coronavirus infection will be detected by targeted deep sequencing of cohorts of COVID-19 patients with milder and more severe symptoms. The detected genetic variants will then be imputed into larger population-based cohorts and linked to nation-wide electronic health records.
Your job
You will be involved in handling and analysis of next generation sequencing data, e.g. derived from both short (e.g. Illumina) and long read (Nanopore) sequencing, and integration of these data with existing knowledge about gene/protein function, gene regulation and the 3D-organisation of the human genome.
Profile
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist with the following competencies and experience:
Essential experience and skills:
You have a Master or/and a PhD in Bioinformatics or similar competences.
You have experience with the handling and analysis of next generation sequencing data.
You have an active interest in linking human variation data to disease mechanisms.
Proficient communication skills and ability to work in teams.
Excellent English skills written and spoken.
Desirable experience and skills:
Experience/knowledge of next generation sequencing data, desirably also participate in the establishment and subsequent handling/analysis of Nanopore sequencing data.
Experience/knowledge of sequence assembly, variant calling techniques, analysis of structural variation, and sex-specific genome differences.
Place of employment
The place of employment is at the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine (ICMM) for the first year and at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Protein Research (CPR) for the second year.
Both ICMM and CPR are located at the Panum Institute in the north of Copenhagen.
ICMM and CPR offers creative and ambitious scientific environments, with many different nationalities represented. ICMM and CPR aims to produce research with high international impact focusing on the functional cell, its genetic components and molecular cellular mechanisms in a medical context.
ICMM currently comprises five research programs, three high profile Research Centers as well as a number of international research groups. The scientists at ICMM are involved in high quality research based undergraduate and graduate teaching programs at the University of Copenhagen. The employment at ICMM will be in the Medical Genetics group led by Professor Niels Tommerup, which focuses on how genetic variants including variants that perturb the 3D-organisation of the human genome are associated with disease.
CPR was established in 2007 to promote basic and applied discovery research on human proteins of medical relevance. The Center comprises five research programs with a wide range of expertise and resources including proteomics, protein production, bioinformatics and general characterization of disease mechanisms. The employment at CPR will be in the Translational Disease Systems Biology group led by Professor Søren Brunak, which focuses on establishing early competitive advantage in disease-relevant computational analysis across the general areas of bioinformatics, chemoinformatics, systems biology and medical informatics.
More information on ICMM and CPR can be found at: Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine – University of Copenhagen (ku.dk) and Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Protein Research – University of Copenhagen (ku.dk).
Terms of employment
