瑞典斯德哥尔摩大学2021年招聘博士后职位(人机交互-文物生态学项目)

Postdoctoral Fellow in Human-Computer Interactions with a Focus on Community Artifact Ecologies

Stockholm University

Description

The postdoctoral position is situated at the intersection of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and Computer-Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW) with a focus on community artifact ecologies. The successful candidate will work with Assistant Professor Chiara Rossitto at Stockholm University and Associate Professor Rob Comber at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH).

The project's theoretical underpinning will be artifact ecologies, a notion describing dynamics in constellations of digital devices and software. The focus of this position is to conduct both ethnographic investigations and design work investigating the role of digital artifact ecologies in supporting collaboration and collective actions around issues of waste management and care for the environment. Concerns such as establishing relationships with others along with a cleaner and more sustainable city will be central to the planned research.

The postdoctoral position will involve both studies of current waste management practices, within multiple household buildings, and design work on the ways these practices can be supported through the integration of multiple digital technologies. The position will also entail theoretical explorations to develop the notion of artifact ecologies within community and urban contexts. The research will benefit from connections to the project Digital Stewardship: Infrastructuring Waste Management Through Digital Platforms and Sensor Technologies, funded by the Kamprad Family Foundation and run by Dr. Chiara Rossitto.

Main responsibilities The postdoctoral fellow will be involved in ethnographic and design work exploring the use of a variety of digital technologies (artifact ecologies) in the provision of basic urban services, such as waste management. It is expected that the postdoctoral fellow will present their work at international conferences and journals, and collaborate with collogues both at Stockholm University and the Royal Institute of Technology.

Qualification requirements Postdoctoral positions are appointed primarily for purposes of research. Applicants are expected to hold a Swedish doctoral degree or an equivalent degree from another country.

Assessment criteria The degree should have been completed no more than three years before the deadline for applications. An older degree may be acceptable under special circumstances, which may involve sick leave, parental leave, clinical attachment, elected positions in trade unions, or similar.

In the appointment process, special attention will be given to research skills.

The candidates must have successfully passed Stage 1 and Stage 2 of Digital Futures postdoc fellowships evaluation process in Spring 2021.

The ideal candidate has a background in Computer Science and experience in the area of Human Computer Interaction and Computer-Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW). Experience in conducting qualitative studies that include participant observations, interviews, and in designing for ecologies of digital artifacts – rather than single devices is required.

The following criteria will be used for assessing candidates:

Research expertise: A track record demonstrating excellence and experience with in-depth qualitative studies of technology-mediated practices, and with design methods within Human-Computer Interaction, in particular as applied to artefact ecologies in collaborative settings. Demonstrated experience of publishing at high level Human-Computer Interaction and Computer-Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW) journals and conferences.

Independence: Ability to plan, conduct and report research independently. Publications related to artifact ecologies are required.

Collaborative abilities: Ability to collaborate with others and work as a part of a team, and demonstrated past involvement in collaborative research projects.

Communication skills: Excellent written and spoken English. Demonstrated ability to present research both written and orally at top, international conferences.

Awareness of diversity and equal opportunity issues, with specific focus on gender equality. Awareness of gender issues in the development of artifact ecologies in urban contexts.

Preferred qualifications :

A track record of teaching experience in the area of Human-Computer Interaction, qualitative research methods for Human-Computer Interaction, and in supervising student work.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal competency.

Terms of employment The position involves full-time employment for a maximum of two years, with the possibility of extension under special circumstances. Start date September, 1, 2021 or as per agreement.
