英国约翰英纳斯中心2021年招聘博士后职位(生物信息学与建模)
Postdoctoral Researcher in Bioinformatics and Modelling
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Postdoctoral Researcher to join the Penfield Group at the John Innes Centre, working on cutting-edge science in the field of molecular genomic characterisation of reproductive traits in Brassica napus.
About the John Innes Centre:
The John Innes Centre is an independent, international centre of excellence in plant science, genetics and microbiology. We nurture a creative, curiosity led approach to answering fundamental questions in bioscience, and translate that knowledge into societal benefits.
Our employees enjoy access to state-of-the-art technology and a diverse range of specialist training opportunities, including support for leadership and management. Click here to find out more about working at the John Innes Centre.
About the Group:
The successful applicant will join a strong group working to understand the biology underlying the effects of winter temperature variation and climate change on plant reproduction and yield. The applicant will work closely between the groups of Steven Penfield, Richard Morris and Lars Ostergaard in a large collaborative project, exploiting large datasets to understand the basis of variation in brassica reproductive traits.
The role:
The Postdoctoral Researcher will be interested in applying modern genomic techniques to understand the effect of temperature and climate change on plant reproductive development. The post-holder will use their skills in bioinformatics and programming to score haplotypes form short read sequence data and combine this will tissue specific trancriptome data and gene network models to explain variation in reproductive traits in oilseed rape. After building a trait database from existing data you will predict the basis of trait variation using statistical modelling.
The ideal candidate:
The successful applicant will have a PhD (full award or expected within 6 months) or equivalent in Plant Science, Bioinformatics or computational modelling and previous experience in bioinformatics, programming using Python or R and an understanding of plant or crop science.
