丹麦奥尔胡斯大学2021年招聘博士后职位(癌症生物学)
Postdoc in Cancer Biology
Aarhus University (AU)
The Department of Biomedicine at Faculty of Health at Aarhus University invites applications for a position as Postdoc in the field of cancer biology as per 1 October 2021 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is a fixed-term full-time position.
We offer a vibrant international research environment where English is the preferred language in the laboratory, at meetings and at seminars. The Department employs some 450 people and covers a range of research areas within Biomedicine. We contribute to the Bachelor’s degree programs in medicine, molecular medicine, odontology and the Master’s degree programs in biomedical engineering and medical chemistry. Our infrastructure is well developed with modern laboratories, core and animal facilities. You will work in the brand new ‘Skou Building’ as we are in the process of modernizing our old facilities. You can read more about the department here and about the faculty here.
About the research project
The acidity of the tumor microenvironment promotes multiple malignant processes including proliferation, migration, invasion, and immune evasion. Yet, our understanding of the underlying molecular mechanisms that create and respond to local interstitial acidification in tumors is still insufficient to permit therapeutic intervention. In this project, the successful candidate will use CRISPR technology to induce breast cancer and glioblastoma in mice. Concurrent targeting of transporters and putative sensors of acids and bases will allow us to evaluate their role in establishing the local environment in vivo (using microdialysis sampling, ion-sensitive electrodes) and their consequences for tumor development (by palpation and PET/MR), tumor immune infiltration (by flow cytometry), and cellular signaling (by 2-photon fluorescence microscopy and ex vivo biochemical assays).
Your job responsibilities
As Postdoc in cancer biology your position is primarily research-based but may also involve teaching assignments. You will contribute to the development of the department through research of high international quality. In your daily work, you will work closely with colleagues on your project, where you will receive supervision and guidance.
Your main tasks will consist of independent research of high international quality, including publication.
You will report to Professor Ebbe Boedtkjer.
Your competences
You have academic qualifications at PhD level, preferably within one or more of the following areas: cancer biology, molecular biology, transport physiology. Experience with and license for animal experiments are highly desired. Training will be given to ensure a quick learning curve for techniques not currently mastered by the candidate.
As a person, you are ambitious, flexible, and highly motivated; you take ownership and possess good communication and interpersonal skills. We expect you to be fluent in oral and written English.
For the driven candidate, this project based on strong synergies between local research environments will create excellent possibilities for personal and scientific development.
In order to be assessed as qualified for a Postdoc position, you must meet these academic criteria.
Shortlisting will be used.
Questions about the position
If you have any questions about the position, please contact Professor Ebbe Boedtkjer tel.: (+45) 24870240, mail: eb@biomed.au.dk.
Your place of work will be the Department of Biomedicine, Hoegh-Guldbergs Gade 10, DK-8000 Aarhus C, Denmark.
We expect to conduct interviews in August.
