LINKÖPING UNIVERSITY Hereby advertises one or two positions as Postdoc in Information Systems with an orientation towards digital services, automatization, and artificial intelligence within public service The position is formally based at the Department of Management and Engineering.
At the division of Information Systems and Digitalization (INDIG) we provide two attractive undergraduate programs, a Bachelor´s programme in Information Systems Analysis (180 credits) and a Master Programme in IT and Management (120 credits). We also provide graduate studies and highly regarded research within Information Systems and Digitalization. We contribute to knowledge of how IT systems are developed and used by people in organizations and in society. The interaction between humans, IT systems and organization – within private companies as well as the public sector – are therefore of great importance. This implicates that we focus especially on analysis, design, change and management of businesses where IT systems are or are expected to be included.
At our division we offer excellent possibilities for well-established theoretical and practice-oriented research, teaching and pedagogic research and development. Research of digitalization in the public sector (E-government) has been a cornerstone in our division for more than 15 years. We conduct several research projects within this area, such as IT, services, and business development within the public sector, as well projects on a society level, for example the development of smart cities and the role digitalization has in similar contexts. For instance, different development initiatives are studied from a policy and strategy level, through implementation, to practice.
We offer a creative and open work-environment, characterized by responsibility, creativity, and authority. The applicant needs to be willing to work in a creative and changeable environment and to actively engage both in the progress of the division and in collaboration with the surrounding community. This also includes to contribute to strengthen the interdisciplinary collaboration, both within our department and with other departments.
Duties A Postdoc will essentially carry out research. The position may also involve teaching, but no more than 30 percent of work time.
The primary focus of the Postdoc position is research within digitalization in and of the public sector with a focus on digital services, automatization, and artificial intelligence. The duties involve perform conceptual, and theory driven work with a variation of research methods, in the collaboration with colleagues. To discuss, present and publish science within the field of digital services is a primary duty and therefore documented experience of the same is required. Having conducted research within the field of automatization in the public sector is considered as especially meriting.
The applicant is expected to present documented skills within digital services as a research field. Another requirement is a documented skill within qualitative, interpretive approaches and methods in terms of interviews and observations in which large amounts of unstructured data is handled and analyzed. Furthermore, documented research skill regarding combinations of qualitative and quantitative research approaches and methods is especially meriting.
Above conducting research, the position involves teaching, supervision, and examination in the courses and areas that the division provides within our Bachelor and master's programme.
Pedagogical skill in disciplinaries that are relevant for the field of Information Systems is considered a merit. The teaching duties will be carried out in Swedish or English. Therefore, documented skill of teaching in Swedish or English is a requirement for the position.
Qualifications The position requires a doctorate or an equivalent degree from a foreign university. The doctoral degree must have been obtained no longer than three years before the expiration date of the application.
Form of employment A Postdoc may be employed until further notice, but for no longer than two years. The appointment can be renewed if there are special reasons for this.
Starting date Preliminary 2021-11-01, or by agreement.
Salary The University applies individual salary scales adapted to the experience of the employee and to the labour market.
