瑞典查尔姆斯理工大学2021年招聘博士后职位(纳米流体无标记光学单分子检测)

Postdoc in nanofluidic lable-free optical single molecule detection

Chalmers University of Technology

We are looking for a motivated postdoc with experience in single molecule detection and spectroscopy using plasmonics, superresolution or interferometric scattering (iSCAT) microscopy techniques to join our multinational and dynamic team.

The aim of your research project is to further develop and apply a patent-pending nanofluidic microscopy platform optimized for light scattering-based label-free detection of single molecules in free motion. You will also participate in the design of the required integrated nanofluidic structures, and evaluate their sensing performance for the detection of individual analyte molecules in different contexts and in increasingly complex biofluids. You will work in close collaboration with our start-up Envue Technologies AB.

Information about the research group

The Langhammer group at the Chemical Physics Division at the Department of Physics operates at the interface between materials science, nanoscience, catalysis, nanoplasmonics and nanofluidics, with a particular focus on sustainable energy-related materials and nanosensors. For that purpose, we continuously develop and evolve our own methodologies for state-of-the-art nanofabrication, as well as build our own customized research instrumentation. Now we intensify our efforts towards the label-free detection of single molecules using nanofluidic structures (see our related work in: Nano Lett., 2016, 16 (12), pp 7857–7864; ACS Sensors 2021, 6, 1, 73–82). For more info, please visit our group home page: www.langhammerlab.se

Major responsibilities

Your working time is fully devoted to the research related to the project and to further develop and apply our new nanofluidic microscopy technique, for example, for the study of single DNA, the detection of single proteins in the sub 100 kDA size range, or towards the analysis of single cell secretomes. You will also be the main responsible for our ongoing collaborations with the groups of Prof. Elin Esbjörner and Prof. Fredrik Westerlund at the Department of Biology and Biological Engineering at Chalmers, and with Envue Technologies AB.

Contract terms

Full-time temporary employment. The position is limited to 1 + 1 years full-time research studies.

Qualifications

To qualify as a candidate for the position you must have a Ph.D. in Physics, Biophysics, Biology, Nanoscience, Chemistry or similar, with a proven experimental background in single molecule spectroscopy, sensing or microscopy using nanoplasmonic and/or fluorescence and/or superresolution microscopy and/or interferometric scattering (iSCAT) techniques.

The following additional skills are considered a merit:

• Experience with nanofluidics

• Experience with theoretical analysis of fluid flow under extreme confinement

• Experience with biosensing and biofuctionalization of surfaces

• Experience with single particle tracking

• Experience with theoretical nano-optics

• Experience with electrodynamics simulations

• Experience with biophysics

Due to the interdisciplinary nature of the work, which involves collaborations within the project team and potentially across several Departments at Chalmers, you are expected to have excellent collaboration skills.

The position also requires excellent communication skills in written and spoken English. Applicants who do not have English or a Scandinavian language as their mother tongue need to provide documentation of good communication skills in English, typically evidenced by an English language test, for example TOEFL 550 (paper-based)/TOEFL 213 (computer-based), and exemplified during the interview process prior to admission.
