Postdoc for Machine Learning in Laser-Plasma Accelerations

Novel methods of machine learning and artificial intelligence promise new possibilities to enhance the quality of laser-plasma electron beams to a level that supports real-worl applications. In this context, we are searching for a highly motivated self-driven Postdoc with an exellent background in laser-plasma acceleration working at the interface of experiments, laser development, particle-in-cell code development and application of machine earning methods to control the experiment, analyze data and predictive modeling.

•Apply methods of machine learning to improve the electron beam quality from a laser-plasma accelerator

•Develop methods of machine-learning based predictive modeling and active stabilization

•Coordinate and lead experiment campaigns at the LUX laser-plasma accelerator to demonstrate high-quality electron beams

•PhD in physics with a focus on laser-plasma acceleration

•Experience in experimental laser-plasma acceleration

•Experience in writing PIC simulation codes for laser-plasma accelerators

•Experience in machine learning tools such as keras, pytorch and others

•Proven scientific track record in machine-learning for laser-plasma accelerators
