加拿大英属哥伦比亚大学2021年招聘博士后职位(功能基因组学/糖组学)

Postdoctoral Fellow in Functional Genomics/Glycomics

The University of British Columbia

Summary of Position

The Wisnovsky lab is inviting applications for a postdoctoral research position. The successful candidate will work on several interconnected projects that apply cutting-edge CRISPR genomic screening techniques to map pathways regulating aberrant glycosylation in cancer. In addition to research responsibilities, the successful candidate will be expected to take on a leadership role in mentoring undergraduate and graduate-level researchers. We provide a supportive, dynamic research environment with strong opportunities for professional growth, project leadership and collaboration. Funding is guaranteed for at least two years with possibility of renewal.

The Wisnovsky Lab

The Wisnovsky lab (wisnovskylab.ca) is based at UBC in the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Our group studies the cell-surface glycome, a dense network of sugar molecules that coats the surface of every living cell. The glycome plays a fundamental role in regulating the activity of our immune system, helping immune cells to distinguish normal, healthy cells from abnormal cells and invading pathogens. In diseases like cancer, the structure of the cell-surface glycome becomes profoundly altered, allowing tumour cells to escape immune detection. We apply CRISPR genomic screening technologies to better understand the complex genetic mechanisms that regulate these changes in cellular glycosylation. The overarching goal of our research is to identify druggable pathways that can be targeted to modulate glycosylation, generating new therapeutic options for the treatment of cancer and autoimmune disease.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in biochemistry, cell biology, molecular genetics or a related field.

• Extensive prior experience with human cell culture and basic molecular biology techniques is an absolute requirement.

• Candidates with experience in pooled CRISPR/shRNA screening, next-generation sequencing, fluorescence-activated cell sorting, and/or primary immune cell culture are strongly preferred.

• The successful candidate is also expected to maintain a collaborative, collegial attitude towards team members of all experience levels.

How To Apply

Prospective candidates should send a cover letter, CV and contact information for three references to simon.wisnovsky@ubc.ca. This position will remain open until a suitable candidate is found. No telephone calls or drop-in inquiries are accepted. Follow-up interviews will be conducted over Zoom. Only those under consideration will be contacted for follow-up interviews. The approximate desired start date is January 1, 2022 but can be flexible for the right candidate.

This posting is for the UBC Vancouver campus in British Columbia, Canada.

Please refer to reference number NC-55309 during correspondence about this position. Please visit the researcher profile of the supervisor for this position to learn more about their research.
