爱尔兰国立高威大学2021年招聘博士后职位(量化COVID相关公共干预在爱尔兰的影响)

National University of Ireland Galway

Postdoctoral Researcher - “To quantify the effects of COVID related public interventions in Ireland”, HRB Clinical Research Facility, NUI Galway (NUIG RES 161-21)

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a short-term full time specific purpose position as a Postdoctoral Researcher with the HRB Clinical Research Facility at the National University of Ireland, Galway. This position is funded by SFI and is available from 7-Sep-2021 to 14-Oct-2021 (5 weeks).

The project is on the write up and dissemination stage and has developed a discrete-time formulation of a compartmental model to describe the temporal dynamics of SARS-Cov-2. This model is used to retrospectively describe the evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic and to forecast the outcome of applying public health measures in Ireland in the first year of the epidemic. An interactive web-based application is currently being developed to help decision makers to assess the likely impact of a public health measure on how quickly the virus spreads, the costs and effects on the health system and the likely outcome for people in Ireland. The app will also map out potential alternative interventions and assess their likely outcomes for comparison.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will join a group of researchers at the HRB Clinical Research Facility at NUI Galway and will be expected to:

Duties:

•Finalise the discrete-time model previously developed by members of the research team.

•Write up results from previous findings related to the project and publish in a high quality peer reviewed journal.

•Engage in the dissemination of the project research findings.

•Contribute to the development of the web-based application.

•Support the principal investigator and the research team in the writing of reports and any other academic outputs relevant to the project.

•Contribute to wider team discussions related to the relevant aspects of the research.

Qualifications/Skills required:

The candidate will have completed a PhD in infectious disease epidemiology, or strongly related field with experience of statistical programming (preferably in R and stan) and expertise on:

•Modelling infectious diseases using compartmental models.

•Understanding and running algorithms to simulate from stochastic discrete-time models.

•Bayesian inference.

Essential Requirements:

•PhD in infectious disease epidemiology or strongly related field.

•Have a strong record of papers published in peer reviewed journals.

•Proficiency in modelling infectious diseases using compartmental models.

•Expertise in statistical modelling using R and Stan.

Desirable Requirements:

•Have experience developing web-based applications.

•Excellent attention to detail.

•Excellent written and oral communication skills.

•Deep understanding of stochastic compartmental models.

Salary: 38,631 to 50,031 per annum pro rata (public sector pay policy rules pertaining to new entrants will apply).

Start date: Position is available from September 7th, 2021.
