Job Description

A 100% post doc position is available in the Radiation Oncology research laboratory (group of PD Dr. Michaela Medová), Department for BioMedical Research at the University of Bern (www. dbmr.unibe.ch) to study a newly identified phosphorylation site on the MET receptor tyrosine kinase and the involvement of this phosphorylation in cellular DNA damage response signaling and cancer treatment resistance. The research work will involve generation and characterization of in vitro experimental systems using the CRISPR/Cas9 technology, multi-omics measurements as well as work with organoids and distinct animal models. The position is funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation for up to 4 years.

Requirements

We are looking for applications from outstanding candidates that should hold a PhD. degree (obtained not longer than 3 years ago) in Biology, Medicine (MD PhD.), Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacy or a similar field with at least one first author publication. Applicants should have a strong practical background in state-of-the-art protein and nucleic acid analysis techniques, histology, and work with small laboratory animals. Solid proven experience in the use of bioinformatic tools as well as large datasets will serve as an advantage. Track record with relevant publications in the field, fluent technical English, excellent computer skills and experience in scientific writing (e.g., project proposals, papers) are obligatory. On top, successful applicant must be highly motivated to independently thrive the project and establish collaborations, be responsible, able to work independently as well as in a team and have the ability to supervise and teach undergraduate and graduate students.
