Materials Research and Royce at Leeds

Are you an experienced Research and Innovation professional looking to further your career in one of the UK's leading research intensive Universities? Are you confident and outgoing, and keen to help progress research and innovation in advanced materials through building excellent working relationships with academic and industrial colleagues? Do you have a background in developing and delivering high value and high quality funding applications?

We are looking for a professional and proactive individual to support the development of two major initiatives in the University of Leeds — the University's Bragg Centre for Materials Research, and ‘Royce at Leeds', the Leeds spoke of the national Henry Royce Institute for Advanced Materials. Working with the Centre Director and the Research & Innovation Development Team, you will develop research and translational opportunities, and manage relationships with world-leading academics, industry representatives and funding bodies. You will help to maximise research impact and external income, and support ongoing research, promotional and reporting activities.

Playing a key role in implementing the strategic plans for both the Bragg Centre and Royce at Leeds, you will proactively develop new research and translational opportunities, horizon-scan and gather intelligence on emergent activities and capitalise on such opportunities. You will have expertise specific to the Bragg Centre's research and will support relationships with a wide range of world leading academics, industry, and research and innovation support staff, across the University and in our UK and international partner institutions. In particular, you will support the development of industrial opportunities, which provide direct support for the University's research and specialist facilities, and help to maximise the value of the Centre's strategic industrial partnerships.

Possessing a relevant degree (or equivalent) in Physical Sciences or Engineering, and with relevant research experience gained via a PhD or equivalent experience in industry or academia, you will have experience of developing research and innovation in complex organisations, excellent project management skills, and the ability to build effective and value creating partnerships.

Appointment to this role can be made at Grade 7, Officer level or Grade 8, Manager level. If you are appointed at University of Leeds grade 7, a personal development plan will be put in place, which is anticipated to run over a three-year timescale. On satisfactory completion of this plan, you will advance to University of Leeds grade 8 subject to a successful promotion application.
