丹麦哥本哈根大学2021年招聘博士后职位(HPC / Linux专家)

HPC/Linux Specialist For Big Data Research Support At Novo Nordisk Foundation Center For Protein Research (CPR)

Description

A position as a HPC/Linux specialist is available at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Protein Research (CPR – www. cpr.ku.dk) from 1 December 2021 or after agreement.

The center was established in 2007 at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen, to promote basic and applied discovery research on human proteins of medical relevance. The center has several technology platforms that all produce big data as well as a big data platform that currently handles only storage of the data. With this position, we plan to extend the platform to also maintain special-purpose HPC installations, including GPU computing, and to support the scientists using these and shared HPC resources.

Job description You will be employed in the Big Data Management Platform with reference to Prof. Lars Juhl Jensen. The platform will be working closely with the University's IT department to set up and maintain HPC installations purpose- built for the specific needs of the technology platforms. You will work and interact collaboratively with researchers at CPR within the fields of e.g. structural biology, proteomics and data science to assist them in exploiting the vast opportunities of HPC, both systems internally hosted and on a national and international level.

Tasks include:

Install, configure, and administrate internal HPC systems (hardware and software).

Configure, maintain, and trouble shoot cluster management and scheduling software.

Troubleshoot and monitor resource utilization/availability on Linux servers.

Installation and performance optimization of scientific software on HPC systems.

Helping scientist to translate code to be used with the HPC system.

Training of researchers using the systems and daily support.

Development of data backup policies of internal HPC systems together with KU-IT.

About you You have a bachelor's or master's degree in a subject such as computer science or equivalent experience, for example running infrastructure relating to bioinformatics. Extensive experience of managing Linux-based scientific research computing infrastructure is essential, including experience setting up and maintaining HPC systems. Since the job involves close collaboration with researchers, strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.

Preferred experience:

System administration of large-scale HPC installations.

Cluster management software.

Workload managers, such as SLURM or Torque.

Secure private cloud setup and maintenance.

Writing code for job parallelization for HPC in scripting languages.

Techniques for HPC performance optimization, including GPU computing.

Installing custom software on Linux systems (not part of distro).

We offer

A job in which you will work with leading researchers on important scientific problems.

A good and interesting workplace in constant development.

A versatile and exciting job with many challenges and big influence on how the job is organized.

A job with opportunities for participation in meetings/courses where relevant.

A job in a coherent group with an informal and relaxed work environment.

A workplace with focus on an excellent work-life balance.

Terms of employment The position is permanent and full-time (37 hours per week in average) with flexible working hours. Starting date is 1 December 2021 or as soon as possible thereafter. Salary, pension and terms of employment will be in accordance with the agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) as an academic employee or a special consultant depending on your qualifications. Depending on qualifications, a supplement may be negotiated.
