瑞典卡罗林斯卡学院2021年招聘博士后职位(心血管研究)

Postdoctoral Researcher In Cardiovascular Research

Karolinska Institute Stockholm

Description

Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

You are welcome to join a successful genuinely translational research group at KI. In a well-established network of cardiovascular research our group is focused on identification of disease mechanisms leading to atherosclerosis and development of cardioprotective strategies based on novel targets in acute myocardial infarction. The clinical importance of these mechanisms is subsequently investigated in well-defined patient cohorts with coronary artery disease, diabetes and hypercholesterolemia.

Your mission

The Cardiology Unit at Department of Medicine, Solna has a postdoc position in cardiovascular research open for a highly motivated scientist. The project is focused on problems related to endothelial dysfunction, atherosclerosis and cardiac ischemic injury. Studies will investigate mechanisms driving the development of endothelial and cardiac injury with focus in type 2 diabetes. Of particular interest are studies exploring the role of red blood cells and their interaction with cardiac tissue and the endothelium in the development of reperfusion injury. The project includes research identifying molecular mechanisms and treatment of reperfusion injury in experimental models of myocardial ischemia. The studies are performed in isolated organ models and in vivo. The appointment will be for two years with a possible extension for up to two additional years.

Your profile

Applicants should have a strong research background in experimental cardiovascular research documented by publications of studies related to cardiovascular biology. The applicant should have documented experience from studies of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion in isolated heart models and/or in vivo models. Experience from laboratory methods including Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, enzyme assays and cell cultures are expected. A person is eligible for a postdoc position if he or she has obtained a PhD and has fulfilled a postdoctoral education. Previous postdoc education is a strong merit. We welcome a creative, hardworking, and enthusiastic team-player to our group. The candidate is expected to take part in experimental design, experimentation, presentation, and preparation of publications. Personal suitability and scientific expertise are highly valued. The applicant must be proficient in English, both spoken and written.

Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.

What do we offer?

At KarolinskaInstitutet, we conduct innovative medical research and provide the largest range of biomedical education in Sweden. KarolinskaInstitutet is a state university, which entitles employees to several benefits such as extended holiday and a generous occupational pension. Employees also have free access to our modern gym and receive reimbursements for medical care.

Location

The position is located within the Department of Medicine, Solna. The department consists of twelve divisions and each division consists of several research groups. The position is located within the research group of professor John Pernow within the Cardiology unit at BioClinicum at Karolinska University Hospital, Solna. The unit conducts translational and clinical research in a wide area of cardiovascular disease of internationally high standard. The focus of the research group is to explore the mechanisms underlying development of endothelial dysfunction and atherosclerosis caused by cardiovascular risk factors such as diabetes and hypercholesterolemia as well as development of myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury in experimental models and in clinical investigations.
