美国牛津大学2021年招聘博士后职位(生理学、解剖学和遗传学)

Postdoctoral Research Scientist

University Of Oxford

Description

Postdoctoral Research Scientist

Department of Physiology, Anatomy & Genetics, Sherrington Building, Parks Road, Oxford, OX1 3PT Grade 7: £33,309 - £37,467 per annum

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist to join the Swietach Group in the Department of Physiology, Anatomy & Genetics. The post- holder will become part of the Proton Transport Group, which includes researchers working at the forefront of cardiac physiology, inborn errors of metabolism, cancer biology, and red blood cell physiology. The postholder will be primarily responsible for work on novel antihypertrophic therapies exploiting bicarbonate transporters. These transporters have been at the core of our group's research for over 20 years, and there is now an opportunity to exploit them as therapeutic targets in heart disease. A recent editorial in Cell has highlighted the untapped potential of these drug targets in treating human diseases. To support this exciting research project, the post- holder will receive training from the team in Oxford and from collaborators at King's College London (in vivo animal models of heart disease), Aarhus University (knockout mice) and Helmholtz Zentrum Munich (antibody development). The research plan combines various in vivo and in vitro methods, ranging from live-cell imaging and molecular techniques, to heart phenotyping and antibody development. Taken together, the research programme will provide a wide scope of training and career development at a British Heart Foundation-recognised Centre of Research Excellence.

Responsibilities include managing own academic research and administrative activities; small scale project management; adapting existing and develop new scientific techniques and experimental protocols; testing hypotheses and analysing scientific data from a variety of sources, reviewing and refining working hypotheses as appropriate; contributing ideas for new research projects; developing ideas for generating research income, and present detailed research proposals to senior researchers; collaborating in the preparation of scientific reports and journal articles and occasionally present papers and posters; acting as a source of information and advice to other members of the group on scientific protocols and experimental techniques; and representing the research group at external meetings/seminars, either with other members of the group or alone. Opportunities will be available to supervise graduate students supporting the project aims.

The post-holder will hold, or be near to completion of, a PhD or equivalent in life science. You will have experience in biochemistry or physiology, preferably in the cardiac field. The successful candidate will have experience in work with laboratory animals, preferably with knowledge of in vivo models of cardiac disease, as well as experience in at least one of the following procedures: cell culture, primary cell isolation, mouse surgery; and at least one of the following techniques: live-cell imaging, high-throughput assays, qPCR, immunotechniques.

The post will be based in the Department of Physiology, Anatomy & Genetics, Sherrington building, Parks Road, Oxford, OX1 3PT. This is a fixed-term post for three years, available immediately.

Informal enquiries may be directed to Professor Pawel Swietach .

Closing date for applications is midday on Wednesday 24th November 2021.Interviews are likely to be held in early December 2021.

Applications are particularly welcome from women, black and minority ethnic candidates who are under-represented in academic posts in Oxford. We, as a Department and Community, will be considerate and welcoming of all people, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, disability, sexual orientation and gender identity. We acknowledge societal inequalities and how these impact us, and those around us, personally and professionally.
