Fellow (Post Doc) (Diagnostic Medicine / Pathobiology)
Kansas State University
Description
Fellow (Post Doc) (Diagnostic Medicine / Pathobiology)
Apply now Department: 3670080040 Diagnostic MedicnePathobiolog Job no: 511757 Employment type: Staff Full Time (Unclassified - Term) Location: Manhattan, Kansas Categories: Research / Scientific / Grants, Veterinary Medicine Pay Grade: 001
About this Role:
The Department of Diagnostic Medicine/Pathobiology within the College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking applicants for a Fellow (Post Doc.) This postdoctoral fellow will be responsible for conducting research in identification of protective Japanese Encephalitis Virus (JEV) antigens, formulation of prototype vaccines, and conducting efficacy studies in pigs. Additional area of research will involve mapping B cell epitopes for potential use in development of diagnostic test that would be a good fit for differentiation of infected from vaccinated animals. Some efforts will also be directed at the optimization of EliSpot readouts for quantification of JEV- specific granzyme B-positive T cells by intracellular staining. The research project will utilize multiple live vector platforms, and studies will be conducted in commercial swine at BSL2/3 levels. Previous hands-on experience in molecular and cell biology, immunology, vaccinology, and animal husbandry is required.
