瑞典查尔姆斯理工大学2021年招聘博士后职位(量子光学、量子传感技术)

Postdoc in Quantum-Limited Displacement Sensing

Chalmers University of Technology

Description

Our vision is to develop and explore novel devices for quantum sensing technologies. We are interested in using nanomechanical resonators for measuring mechanical displacements down to the quantum regime. This capability unlocks novel opportunities for applications and for foundational research. The goal of this project is to develop nanomechanical resonators based on tensile-strained crystalline materials, which promise to go beyond present-day capabilities and we would like you to be part of this exciting project.

About the project, WACQT and the QTlab The project is settled in the wider field of exploring the quantum behavior of mechanical resonators based on cavity optomechanical devices, which provide an ultra-sensitive means to read-out and control mechanical motion. The goal of the project is to develop novel nano-optomechanical resonators based on tensile-strained crystalline materials. The objectives are to minimize mechanical dissipation using strain engineering, to engineer the optical reflectivity of the resonator via photonic crystals and to integrate the resonator into a chip-based optomechanics platform.

The project is part of the Quantum Sensing area of the Wallenberg Center for Quantum Technology (WACQT), which is a 12-year, billion-SEK initiative started in 2018 with the purpose of advancing Swedish academia and industry to the forefront of quantum technology. WACQT at Chalmers encompasses research in quantum computing and quantum sensing with an ever-growing research base in experiment and theory.

The project is experimental in nature and supervised by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Witlef Wieczorek. The Wieczorek group is part of the Quantum Technology Laboratory (QTLab) at the Department of Microtechnology and Nanoscience (MC2). The QTLab performs cutting edge research in the field of quantum technologies and provides an international, creative and stimulating research environment. The Department MC2 houses a high-end cleanroom for state-of-the- art micro- and nanofabrication. Major responsibilities We are seeking a highly motivated and outstanding candidate for this postdoc position. We expect you to show initiative by proactively developing and contributing with your own research ideas within the advertised project. The major responsibility is to carry out the research project. There is no teaching involved. You will work in a collaborative environment, where teamwork is essential for project success.

Qualifications You should have obtained a PhD degree in Physics, Applied Physics, Engineering Physics, Microtechnology, Nanotechnology, Photonics or similar. The degree should generally not be older than three years. Experience with Quantum Optics, Quantum Technology, MEMS/NEMS device technology and/or Microfabrication is considered a merit. The applicant shall be self-propelled with a strong driving force to pursue excellent experimental research in a collaborative environment. The position requires sound verbal and written communication skills in English. Contract terms Full-time temporary employment. The position is limited to a maximum of two years (1+1).

We offer Chalmers offers a cultivating and inspiring working environment in the coastal city of Gothenburg. Read more about working at Chalmers and our benefits for employees.

Chalmers aims to actively improve our gender balance. We work broadly with equality projects, for example the GENIE Initiative on gender equality for excellence. Equality and diversity are substantial foundations in all activities at Chalmers.

Application procedure The application should be marked with Ref 20210562 and written in English. The application should be sent electronically and be attached as pdf-files, as below:

CV:(Please name the document as: CV, Surname, Ref. number) including: • CV, include complete list of publications • Previous teaching and pedagogical experiences • Two references that we can contact.

Personal letter:(Please name the document as: Personal letter, Family name, Ref. number) 1-3 pages where you: • Introduce yourself • Describe your previous research fields and main research results • Describe your future goals and future research focus

Other documents: • Attested copies of completed education, grades and other certificates.

Please use the button at the foot of the page to reach the application form. The files may be compressed (zipped).

Application deadline: 3 January, 2022
