Description

The University of Nevada, Reno is seeking to hire a highly motivated Postdoctoral Scholar to carry out synthetic organic chemistry research as part of the project titled "Quantum Dynamics of Spin-Based Molecular Systems" funded by the US Department of Energy. The successful candidate will have a strong background in multi-step organic synthesis and a record of productive and creative research in the form of peer-reviewed journal publications. The main responsibilities of this position include the design, bottom-up synthesis, and characterization of highly conjugated nanographene structures with open-shell character and/or stable redox states. The successful candidate will characterize and study structure/function relationships of novel compounds using various techniques (e.g., NMR, FT-IR, UV-vis, fluorescence, HRMS, EPR, X-ray crystallography). Other responsibilities include guiding and advising graduate and undergraduate student researchers, and writing scholarly papers.

Required Qualifications

Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or related field.

Degree must have been received within the last five years.
