英国牛津大学2022年招聘博士后职位(呼吸内科)
Postdoctoral Scientist
University Of Oxford
Description
We are seeking an ambitious and enthusiastic post-doctoral scientist to join a growing research programme in mechanisms of airways inflammation and infection led by Dr Timothy Hinks; based at the Respiratory Medicine Unit, within the Nuffield Department of Medicine at the John Radcliffe Hospital. The Hinks Lab comprises 4 basic science DPhil students, 4 clinical fellows, 2 research nurses, 1 research technician, 1 research assistant, 1 other postdoctoral scientist.
The post holder will report to Dr Hinks. The post holder will be a member of a research group with responsibility for carrying out research in the human and potentially murine studies, and will also provide guidance to less experienced members of the research group, including postdocs, research assistants, technicians, and PhD and project students.
Asthma affects over 350 million people worldwide causing 400,000 deaths annually. Whilst most patients respond to inhaled corticosteroids and bronchodilators, about 10% do not. Most mortality, health service and societal costs of asthma are born by this population with ‘severe asthma', who constitute a significant unmet clinical and economic need. The mechanisms underlying distinct asthma phenotypes are poorly understood and have been identified as an urgent research priority.
The Hinks Lab are applying ex vivo and in vitro functional T cell immune assays, single cell sequencing, 10X multiome (single cell epigenetic sequencing), whole genome sequencing, primary bronchial epithelial cell and iPSC-dervied air liquid interface cultures, and CITE-seq labelled tetramer technologies for the analysis of human asthma. We have a particular interest in MAIT cells and airway T cells. We run a very active human research bronchoscopy programme, supported by in vitro and murine in vivo studies. We collaborate closely with basic and translational T cell biologists including Paul Klenerman, Graham Ogg and Julian Knight.
This project will apply bioinformatics to a highly complex multiomics dataset exploring the mechanisms of highly phenotyped asthma using bronchoscopy studies, flow cytometry, intracellular cytokine staining, and CITE-seq antibodies. This will be in close collaboration with Julian Knight and Sensyne Health. They will also be involved in other ongoing projects within the group including the large-scale AMASS studies analysing highly phenotyped human asthma at a multiomic level and before and after therapeutic macrolide therapy.
You will hold a relevant PhD, a BSc (Hons) degree or MSc together with experience in cellular Immunology. You will be personable with a team-centric ethos. Experience with integrating data across different platforms is desirable.
The post is full time (Part-time minimum 18.75 hours will be considered) and fixed-term for up to 1 year with the possibility for extension.
Applications for this vacancy are to be made online. You will be required to upload a supporting statement and CV as part of your online application.
Only applications received before 12:00 midday on 17 January 2022 will be considered.
