美国西奈山伊坎医学院2022年招聘博士后职位(精神病基因组学)
Postdoctoral Fellow in Psychiatric Genomics
Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (ISMMS), MSHS
The Mullins Lab at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow with a PhD in Statistical Genetics, Computational Biology or a similar field, to lead statistical genetic studies of suicide phenotypes. The International Suicide Genetics Consortium (ISGC) is the largest resource worldwide for conducting genetic studies of suicidality, and aims to elucidate the genetic etiology of suicide outcomes through large-scale genome-wide association studies (GWAS). A Postdoctoral Fellow will have the opportunity to lead forthcoming analyses by the ISGC including: GWAS of >68,000 suicide attempt cases, >18,000 suicide death cases, and >175,000 suicidal ideation cases, characterization of the shared and distinct genetic architectures of suicide outcomes, elucidation of genetic heterogeneity within suicide outcomes with respect to sex and ancestry, identification of biologically relevant pathways, tissues and cell-types, and exploration of potential causal relationships with modifiable risk factors. The Postdoctoral Fellow will also work on a related initiative in the Mullins Lab, to develop clinical and genetic risk prediction models for suicide outcomes in electronic health record-linked biobanks. This will involve applying natural language processing algorithms to physician notes, and training genetic risk predictors based on ISGC studies, in the Mount Sinai BioMe biobank of ~54,000 individuals.

Roles & Responsibilities:
The Postdoctoral Fellow will work under the supervision of Dr. Niamh Mullins, Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry, the Mount Sinai Clinical Intelligence Institute, and the Department of Genetics and Genomic Sciences, at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. The Postdoctoral Fellow will spend approximately 75% and 25% of their time on the ISGC and risk prediction projects respectively. Responsibilities will include statistical analysis of genetic and genomic datasets and electronic health records, manuscript writing, oral presentations at lab meetings, consortium calls, and scientific conferences, and engaging in regular collaborative meetings with teams of scientists locally and internationally.
Environment:
The Mount Sinai Health System encompasses the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and eight hospital campuses in the New York metropolitan area, and is internationally acclaimed for its excellence in research, patient care, and education across a range of specialties. The Icahn School of Medicine is located on the main campus next to Central Park in the Upper East Side of Manhattan. The Mullins Lab is part of the Department of Psychiatry, the Mount Sinai Clinical Intelligence Institute (MSCII), and the Department of Genetics and Genomic Sciences. The lab conducts genomic studies of psychiatric disorders to identify genetic associations, prioritize likely causal genes or variants and their functional consequences, uncover relevant tissues, cell-types, pathways and potential therapeutic targets, and develop genetic risk predictors. We are key contributors to the International Suicide Genetics Consortium, and the Psychiatric Genomics Consortium, and we collaborate widely with labs at Mount Sinai and other institutes. Through the Mount Sinai hospital system, the lab has access to electronic health records of over 5 million patients for research, ~54,000 of whom have genetic data available through the BioMe biobank. We provide a vibrant work environment, with access to large-scale genomic datasets, high performance scientific computing facilities, seminar series, training workshops, local, national, and international conferences, funding opportunities, and mentorship resources. The Mullins Lab is committed to fostering a culture that is welcoming and inclusive to diverse groups of individuals, and is passionate about supporting the development of team members scientifically and professionally.
Eligibility:
Required:
•PhD in Statistical Genetics, Biostatistics, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics or similar field
•Programming skills (particularly R, Unix/ Linux)
•Experience working with genetic datasets
•Proficiency in running statistical genetics software
•Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
•Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative international team
Desired: •Working knowledge of GWAS and post-GWAS analyses
•Experience with diverse ancestry genetic data
•Familiarity with psychiatric nosology
