Position Title

Post Doctoral Fellow - Electrochemical Devices The Opportunity

Professor Andrew Herring, a faculty member in the Colorado Fuel Cell Center affiliated with the Chemical & Biological Engineering Department at the Colorado School of Mines and is seeking a post-doctoral fellow to work on fundamental and device level studies of electrochemical devices. The successful candidate is expected to work effectively in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment and other members of the group and assist with writing proposals and scientific papers.

Responsibilities

Membrane fabrication, study and characterization.

Electrode fabrication, study, characterization and incorporation into membrane electrode assemblies.

Single Cell device studies of Fuel cell, Electrolyzers, or Electrodialysis.

Polymer synthesis would be desirable but is not essential to this position.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

PhD. In Chemical Engineering or related field. All PhD requirements should be completed by the time work commences.

Previous research experience in polymer electrolyte membranes or electrochemical engineering.

Be skilled in the handling of chemicals and flammable compressed gases.

Must be able to re-locate and work in-person in the laboratory.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in the fabrication of membranes and the polymer physics of polymer electrolytes, and the characterization of single cell electrochemical devices.

Excellent written and communication skills.

Pay Range

$50,000 - $55,000

Mines takes into consideration a combination of candidate's education, training and experience as well as the position's scope and complexity, the discretion and latitude required in the role, work location, and external market and internal value when determining a salary level for potential new employees.
