美国劳伦斯伯克利国家实验室2022年招聘博士后(植物微生物相互作用研究)

Plant Microbe Interaction Postdoctoral Fellow

Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory

Description

Berkeley Lab's (LBNL) Environmental Genomics & Systems Biology (EGSB) Division is looking for a Plant Microbe Interaction Postdoctoral Fellow to join Henrik Scheller's Group to work as part of the Feedstocks Division at the Joint BioEnergy Institute (JBEI).

In this exciting role, you will be involved in projects aimed at studying how root exudate profiles and interactions with microorganisms in the rhizosphere may be affected by engineering of plants for altered cell walls, bioproduct accumulation or drought tolerance. Plants can also be engineered specifically to alter exudate profiles that potentially stimulate beneficial microbes. You will work in a cross-disciplinary team of scientists involved in different aspects of the work.

What You Will Do:

Develop tools and methods to study sorghum-microbe interactions in the rhizosphere.

Determine composition of the rhizosphere microbiome in field trials and greenhouse studies of engineered plants, especially sorghum.

Analyze root exudate profiles.

Prepare manuscripts for publication and assist with the development of funding proposals and patents.

Participate in group meetings and seminars.

Maintain an accurate and detailed electronic scientific logbook of all experiments performed.

Store all data generated in an organized and secure way.

Ensure that others could duplicate results.

What is Required:

A recent Ph.D. in Plant Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or related field.

Experience with plant-microbe interactions.

Experience with microscopy.

Strong oral and written communication skills including the ability to maintain appropriate records and manage data.

Effective interpersonal skills including the ability to perform experiments independently while maintaining strong collaborative relationships within an interdisciplinary team environment.

Must have a valid driver's license to travel between multiple Lab and field sites.

What We Prefer:

Experience with synthetic and molecular biology techniques.

Experience with collecting and analyzing root exudates.

Experience with microbiome characterization.

Experience with abiotic stress tolerance in plants.

For full consideration, please apply by March 6, 2022 with the following application materials:

Cover Letter - Describe your interest in this position and the relevance of your background.

Curriculum Vitae (CV) or Resume.

Notes:

This is a full time, exempt from overtime pay (monthly paid), 2 year, postdoctoral appointment with the possibility of renewal based upon satisfactory job performance, continuing availability of funds, and ongoing operational needs. You must have less than 3 years of paid postdoctoral experience.

This position is represented by a union for collective bargaining purposes with predetermined postdoctoral step rates dependent on years of experience post-degree.

Salary is commensurate with experience.

This position may be subject to a background check. Any convictions will be evaluated to determine if they directly relate to the responsibilities and requirements of the position. Having a conviction history will not automatically disqualify an applicant from being considered for employment.

Work will be performed onsite at Joint BioEnergy Institute (JBEI) — Bldg. 978, 5885 Hollis St., 4th floor, Emeryville, CA.
