英国华威大学2022年招聘博士后(有机合成和药物化学方向)

Research Fellow (103844-0322) . Job Reference: 1883163

University Of Warwick

Description

Vacancy Type/Job category

Research Only

Department

Life Sciences

Salary

£31,406 - £40,927 per annum

Location

University of Warwick, Coventry

Vacancy Overview

Full time, fixed term position available immediately. Funding is restricted to end by 30/11/2022 and might have to be shortened depending on the starting salary of the successful candidate.

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research fellow to work under the supervision of Dr Elizabeth Fullam, in collaboration with Professor Matthew Gibson (Department of Chemistry) and Dr Rob Young (Blue Burgundy Drug Discovery Consulting) on a project which involves the design, synthesis and development of new molecules for the treatment of tuberculosis (TB), one of the leading causes of death from a single infectious disease in the world. In this project, the focus will be on organic synthesis and medicinal chemistry. We will evaluate these new inhibitors using biophysical assays and against Mycobacterium tuberculosis and mammalian cell lines. The project is funded by the Warwick-Wellcome Translational Partnership and is available immediately.

Applicants should possess, or expect to shortly obtain, a PhD and have a proven track record in organic/medicinal chemistry with extensive experience of the design and synthesis of small molecules. You will have experience in synthetic chemistry and organic chemistry and demonstrate competence and proficiency in this area. You should be able to adapt existing synthetic techniques and establish new strategies and methodologies. An understanding of inhibitor optimisation and determining structure-activity relationships of small molecules would be beneficial. You should be capable of working under your own initiative but also collaboratively with researchers from a range of different disciplines, so excellent communication, organisational and team skills are required.

If you have not yet been awarded your PhD but are near submission or have recently submitted your PhD, any offers of employment will be made as Research Assistant on level 5 of the University grade structure (£30,497). Upon successful award of your PhD and evidence of this fact, you will be promoted to Research Fellow on the first point of level 6 of the University grade structure (£31,406 pa).

To explore the post further, or for any queries you may have please contact e.fullam@warwick.ac.uk Further information about Dr Elizabeth Fullam's research group can be found at https:// www2.warwick.ac.uk/fac/sci/lifesci/research/pathbac/ Informal enquiries can be made directly to Dr Elizabeth Fullam (e.fullam@warwick.ac.uk) Further information about the laboratory can be found here: https:// www2.warwick.ac.uk/fac/sci/lifesci/research/pathbac/

Interviews will be held as soon as possible after the closing date TBC. Short- listed candidates will be expected to give a presentation of their previous research relevant to this project as part of this interview process.
