The Fellow will gain skills in leadership, management and supervision of research students. The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will coordinate the daily operation of the ARC Discovery Project 220103213 “Developing Resilient Housing for Low Socio-Economic Older People”, co-supervise a PhD student, as well as be trained to take a leading role in managing the tasks to achieve the aims of the project:

To understand the indoor living environment of low socio-economic older people in identified disadvantaged areas in South Australia and those from culturally and linguistically diverse background.

Examine the relationship between indoor living environment and wellbeing of the occupants through building monitoring and occupant survey.

Examine the relationships between indoor living environment, household energy use, and operational costs particularly during extreme weather events through various quantitative and qualitative approaches.

Explore and recommend strategies for resilient and affordable housing design that ensures the wellbeing of occupants, including by the use of machine learning.

The ARC Postdoctoral Research Fellow will be a talented recent graduate who will work alongside a team of internationally renowned researchers at The University of Adelaide from architecture/architectural science, gerontology and public health. The position will provide a strong grounding for an academic/research career that will help improve the resilience of our built environment.

To be successful you will need to have:

Obtained (or qualified) for a PhD degree in architectural science or similar discipline by the commencement of the position.

Research experience in architectural science or similar discipline in relation to assessing indoor environmental quality, wellbeing and design of housing for older people.

A strong research publication track record in the above areas.

Experience in undertaking indoor environmental monitoring, building performance computer simulation, and user studies through, for example, questionnaires, focus groups and interviews.

Experience of managing and analysis of large data sets.
