挪威奥斯陆大学基础医学研究所SmartSense跨学科联盟项目2022年招聘博士后
Postdoctoral Fellow within the Smart Sense transdisciplinary consortium
Job description
Applications are invited for a 3-year position as Postdoctoral Fellow within the SmartSense transdisciplinary consortium at the Department of Molecular Medicine, Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, University of Oslo. The position is funded by the Research Council of Norway.
The consortium aims to investigate, in mouse models, how adolescence sleep deprivation elicits long-term metabolic imbalance, by deciphering molecular mechanisms of the brain-adipose tissue crosstalk. The consortium integrates local expertise in adipose tissue biology, neurophysiology, epigenetics and sensor technology. A state-of-the-art animal facility, the largest in Norway, is localized in the Institute.

More about the position
The group of Dr. Nolwenn Briand, Project Leader at the Department of Molecular Medicine, University of Oslo, seeks a highly motivated postdoctoral candidate to undertake in vivo metabolic studies, with the aim to investigate the effect of adolescence sleep deprivation on adipose tissue maturation and metabolic homeostasis in the young and the adult.
The successful candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary research consortium and will work in close collaboration with experts in the neurophysiology of sleep to establish state-of-the-art chemogenetic and optogenetic models of sleep deprivation. She/he will assess the impact of sleep deprivation on the maturation of adipose tissue depots during adolescence and on the emergence of metabolic disorders in adults. She/he will be expected to carry out metabolic phenotyping in mice, including studies in metabolic cages, and prepare tissue and cell samples for microscopy, molecular and transcriptomic studies.
The main purpose of the fellowship is to qualify researchers for work in higher academic positions within their disciplines.
Qualification requirements
•Applicants must hold a degree equivalent to a Norwegian doctoral degree in life science. The doctoral dissertation must be submitted for evaluation by the closing date.
•Experience with in vivo mouse experimentation is required
•Experience in tissue dissection and cell fractionation, preferentially of adipose tissue
•Experience in metabolic phenotyping
•Fluent oral and written communication skills in English
•Competence in advanced microscopy will be an advantage
Personal skills
•Strong motivation
•Ability to integrate and collaborate within a cross-disciplinary environment
•Organization skills
•Ability to work independently and take initiatives
•Clarity in communication
We offer
•Salary NOK 534 400 – 615 800 per year depending on qualifications in position as Postdoctoral Research Fellow (position code 1352)
•A professionally stimulating working environment
•Attractive welfare benefits and a generous pension agreement, in addition to Oslo’s family-friendly environment with its rich opportunities for culture and outdoor activities
How to apply
The application must include
•Application letter including statements of previous research accomplishments and of motivation for the position
•CV summarizing education, positions and relevant work experience including research, pedagogical and administrative experience
•Copies of educational certificates and transcript records
•A complete list of publications
•List of 3 references stating relation to the candidate, with contact information
The application with attachments must be delivered in our electronic recruiting system. Foreign applicants are advised to attach an explanation of their University’s grading system. Please note that all documents should be in English (or a Scandinavian language).
In assessing applications, emphasis will be placed on the documented, academic qualifications, the candidate’s motivation and personal suitability. Interviews with the best qualified candidates will be arranged.
It is expected that the successful candidate will be able to complete the project in the course of the period of employment.
