About our team/Mō te tīma
Since its establishment in 1905 the Department of Anatomy has grown to become one of the largest Departments in the University. It is committed to excellence in its teaching and research.
The Department makes major contributions to the undergraduate and postgraduate education of students in science, medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, physiotherapy, medical laboratory sciences, and physical education. Its research activities fall within four interdisciplinary programmes encompassing: biological anthropology; clinical anatomy; neuroscience; reproduction, genomics and development.
The role/Te mahi
We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral research fellow with a strong background in Neuroscience or neuroendocrinology to join our team.
The successful candidate will work on a Marsden Fund and HRC funded project led by Dr Rosie Brown and Professor Dave Grattan. The project will investigate the role of prolactin-sensitive neural circuitry in regulating parental care in males and females.
Your skills and experience/Kā pūkeka me kā wheako
The Postdoctoral Fellow will have completed a PhD in a neuroscience field. An ideal skill-base will include prior experience in stereotaxic techniques, optogenetics or fibre photometry. Generic skills required include studies with animal models, behavioural testing, and immunohistochemistry.
A thorough approach to laboratory practice and recordkeeping is essential. Evidence of ability to prepare scientific papers for publication is also required. The project requires a high-level of personal independent input and the ability to work co-operatively with other team members to reach the research goals.

This position is full-time, fixed term for 2 years. The position is available from 1 July 2022 (negotiable).
