美国威斯康辛医学院2022年招聘博士后职位(前列腺癌研究)
美国威斯康辛医学院2022年招聘博士后职位(前列腺癌研究)
Medical College of Wisconsin
Purpose
According to the National Institute of Health (NIH) and the National Science Foundation (NSF), a postdoc is an individual who has received a doctoral degree (or equivalent) and is engaged in a temporary and defined period of mentored advanced research training to enhance the professional skills and research independence needed to pursue his or her chosen career path. In addition, according to the National Postdoc Association (NPA), Postdoctoral appointees can pursue basic, clinical or translational projects so long as their primary effort is devoted toward their own scholarship. Postdocs are essential to the scholarly mission of the mentor and host institution, and thus are expected to have the freedom to publish the results of their scholarship.
Characteristics of a postdoctoral appointment:
It is expected that postdocs at MCW, with the assistance of their supervisor, will:
Transition to career independence through the development of professional skills that enable the postdoc to actively pursue a career of his/her own choosing.
Be supervised by at least one senior scholar who actively promotes the postdoc’s professional development.
Establish an individual development plan (IDP) that incorporates equally the postdoc’s career and training goals and the mentor’s research goals.
Pursue basic, clinical, or translational projects so long as effort is focused primarily on research.
Publish results of the postdoc’s research and scholarship during their appointment.
The postdoctoral appointment is temporary by nature, the aggregate amount of time spent as a postdoc is recommended to not exceed five years (not including family medical leave or maternity/paternity leave).
As postdocs are important members of the host institution’s community, appropriate levels of compensation, health care, and other benefits commensurate with their essential status should be afforded, independent of the postdoc’s source of funding.
Overview
A dynamic (DeTAnomics lab) laboratory in the Department of Pathology and Prostate Cancer Center of Excellence in the Cancer Center at MCW is seeking a highly talented, out-of-box thinker Post-Doctoral Fellow to work with an interactive, collaborative team of scientists studying prostate cancer. Candidates who are excited about modeling disease phenotypes, excited about the multi-omics top-down approaches to understand disease pathobiology, and interested in developing novel tools for cancer research are highly encouraged to apply.
This post-doctoral position will focus on expanding our understanding of genetic and epigenetic signatures of DNA repair deficiency and replication stress. The candidate should have expertise in cell engineering and basic molecular biology methods.
Responsibilities:
The responsibilities include those expected at a Ph.D. level, including leading the technical aspects of the study, contributing intellectually to the overall study design, interpreting data, presenting the findings at meetings, and writing manuscripts.
Essential Qualifications and Training
Applicants should have a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in Biomedical Sciences and primary cell and molecular biology techniques applicable to the project, including expertise in working with cancer model systems. Specific desirable skills include in vitro cell culture, molecular biology, CRISPER editing, standard proteomic assays, data analyses of complex data sets, cell isolation by flow cytometry, work with primary tissues, and familiarity with their biology. The ability to think critically and design and interpret experiments is essential.
Experience Requirements:
Experience with molecular biology, cell culture, and immunology methods.
Evidence of productivity appropriate to a post-doctoral fellow as measured by publications and presentations, abstracts, and posters at conferences in areas related to Immunology.
Well-organized with strong attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and perform experiments without day-to-day supervision will be required after training.
Ability to work as part of a team and participate in multiple projects under the supervision of different lab members.
Desirable prior expertise but not essential:
Experience in working with prostate cancer models and or biospecimens.
Extensive experience in Primary organoid culture.
Proven track record of effectively managing large data and biospecimens.
Experience with R and other standard statistical software.
Ability to parse and interpret genome-scale genomics data
Extensive experience with Multiome assays
Proven expertise in studying DNA repair pathways.
A suitable and interested candidate is encouraged to apply with a CV and a Cover letter with a statement of research interests. We are committed to fairness in hiring and to a diverse and inclusive workplace. We encourage women and members of other underrepresented groups to apply.
Diversity and Inclusion:
The Medical College of Wisconsin defines diversity as a commitment to recognizing and appreciating the variety of individual differences in an environment that promotes and celebrates individual and collective achievement. The diversity of MCW continues to be an important source of innovative ideas and creative accomplishments.
