英国牛津大学2022年招聘博士后职位(软材料透射电子显微镜)

Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Transmission Electron Microscopy of Soft Materials

Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Transmission Electron Microscopy of Soft Materials

Department of Physics, Clarendon Laboratory, Parks Road, Oxford

Salary: Grade 7: £33,309 – £40,927 per annum

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Physics, who will work on ****an EPSRC funded project entitled “****Perfecting Halide Perovskites: From Precursor Ink Chemistry to Defect Control.”

The position is available for a fixed-term duration of 36 months with the research focus being on cryo-electron microscopy and the deposition and characterisation of halide perovskite thin-films and devices.

This project will advance the fundamental understanding of the impact of perovskite precursor ink chemistry on crystallisation and defect formation in halide perovskite thin-films. Halide perovskites are a class of low-cost, high-quality semiconductor materials which have the potential to enter and make significant impact in the photovoltaic (PV) and LED markets. Importantly, by taking a bottom-up approach, this project aims to generate a detailed understanding of the chemistry of perovskite precursor inks, map the conversion processes from precursor ink to perovskite thin-film, and identify how and why manipulating the chemistry of precursor inks, grain boundaries and interfaces affects the nature and concentration of the defects, and the chemical composition and optoelectronic properties of perovskite thin-films. Through gaining understanding and control of these systems from a microscopic level, this project aims to deliver improved reproducibility and performance of perovskite PV and LEDs.

The successful candidate will focus primarily on the development and utilisation of advanced cryogenic electron microscopy (cryo-EM) techniques for the chemical and structural characterisation of halide perovskite precursor inks and thin-films.

The post-holder will have the opportunity to teach.

Applicants should possess or be close to obtaining a PhD in physics, materials science, chemistry, engineering or a related field, with a focus on cryo-TEM/STEM of soft/beam sensitive materials

Applicants should be experienced in cryo-TEM/STEM techniques such as low dose imaging, tomography and advanced cryo-preparation methods

Applicants should be highly motivated and have excellent skills in working collaboratively as part of a team. They should be able to set priorities to accomplish multiple tasks with deadlines and adapt to evolving scientific questions. A good track record of high-quality publications is desirable. Having the ability to direct your own research and interpret your results independently is a must.

Please direct enquiries about the role to Dr. Nakita K. Noel (nakita.noel@physics.ox.ac.uk)

Only applications received before midday (UK time) 25 July 2022 can be considered. You will be required to upload a statement of research interests, CV and details of two referees as part of your online application.
