Description
Postdoc in Experimental propagation modelling for wireless communication and sensing (2022-224-04819)
At the Technical Faculty of IT and Design, Department of Electronic Systems, a position as postdoc in Experimental propagation modelling for wireless communication and sensing is open for appointment from October 1, 2022, or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is available for 24 months. In the area of electronics engineering, Aalborg University is known worldwide for its high academic quality and the societal relevance of its research programmes. In electronics engineering, Aalborg University is known worldwide for its high academic quality and the societal relevance of its research programmes. The Department of Electronic Systems consists of more than 200 employees, of which about 40 % are international and about 90 are enrolled PhD students. The Department hosts 620 students. The Department's excellent research infrastructures and facilities accentuate its global position in teaching and research. The Department's research centres around communication, antennas, control systems, AI, sound, cyber security and robotics. The Department plays an active role in translating discoveries and results into practical applications with industrial partners and IPR. The Department provides teaching for several BSc and MSc programmes using a problem- and project-based learning model.
Job description
As PostDoc in Experimental propagation modelling for wireless communication and sensing, you will collaborate closely with researchers at Aalborg University as well as Nokia Bell Labs Research, also located in Aalborg. Besides conducting own research for publications and potential patenting, the job may include supervision of students, including PhD candidates, working within the same field of research.
The key target for the position is to ensure the link between real world radio propagation characteristics in relevant use cases and the modelling applied in simulations studies, based on an experimental approach combining empiri with state-of-the-art knowledge within the field.
The research includes but may not be limited to the following use-cases and topics:
Short range In-Body and In-Car subnetworks
Sensing by communication systems (for drone detection or 6G use cases)
Characterisation of propagation in mm-Wave bands for 5G FR2 (Mobile and FWA)
LPWA IoT channel characterisation for special use cases (e.g. underground)
Time varying radio channel characterisation for NTN LEO satellite communication
Drone, robotic and car communication
Measurements for co-existence in 5G private networks
